The Department of Computer Aided Design and Modeling Systems (CAD&M) was formed as a part of the Faculty of Engineering Systems and Fire Safety. The founder and head of the department is Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Petrova Irina Yuryevna. With the scientific achievements of Petrova I.Yu. the department can be considered as one of the leading in our country to create software and methodological complexes that automate the creative activity of designers of new technology.

The main areas of research are: development of automated data banks and knowledge bases; automation of phase of conceptual design of technical devices and systems; development and use of methods of technical creativity; the development and use of CAD/CAM/CAE systems.

The department trains students of all specialties both in general education disciplines and in special disciplines related to computer design and modeling. During the year, about 500 students have access to computer classes and specialized laboratories of the department.

Petrova Irina Yurievna – Professor, doctor of technical Sciences, honored science worker of the Russian Federation, member of SEFI - European Society of Engineering Education, has the honorary title "honored worker of higher professional education of the Russian Federation", was awarded the medal of the order "For merits before Fatherland" II degree.

She is a member of the editorial Board of the journals Sensors and systems, Caspian journal: management and high technologies, civil Engineering Bulletin of the Caspian. Research interests: Conceptual design, technical systems, medical devices, energy-information models of circuits, elements of control systems elements of information-measuring and control systems, intelligent building.
	Anufriev Dmitriy – rector of ASUACE, Candidate of Science (Technology), Professor of CAD&M Department, Advisor of the Russian Academy of architecture and construction Sciences, full member (academician) of International Academy of ecology and life safety. awarded the Medal of order "of merits before the Astrakhan region". Area of scientific interests includes issues management and media support construction cluster.
	Shikulskaya Olga– Principal Research Scientist of ASUACE, Senior Doctor of Science (Technology), full professor, Corresponding Member of the International Informatization Academy, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Her scientific work concerns computer modelling of complex systems, study of innovative activity in the sphere of the technologies and education. Olga Shikulskaya is registered in the Federal list of the experts of the scientific and technical sphere. In 2007 she was acknowledged by Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
