Any kind of construction is a complicated and comprehensive process. Field survey and site exploration are the first studies performed on the initial stage of construction, which determine main field characteristics, soils texture, ground waters depth. This all comprise the scope of geodetic engineer work. At the end of the day the success of construction depends on engineering decisions: orientation of the new building in space and landscapes, choice of construction materials, foundation technologies, whether the additional soil works would be needed after completion or additional cost would arise due to necessity of water drawdown and redevelopment.

An alumnus in the field of practical geodetics is competent to take special geodetic measurements, necessary for construction and operation of new builts, monitor the status of transportation infrastructure and oil and gas production facilities. His task is to manage a varienty of geodetic challenges, inherent to architectural and construction engineering, mining engineering, operation of mechanisms, equipment, facilities.

Geodetic engineers can take such positions as land surveyor, spatial data specialist, cadastral engineer, topographical surveyor, map maker, surveying engineer, underground surveyor, land cadaster engineer, photogrammeter. The doors of cadaster chamber offices, regional and local administrations on property matters, state authorities, companies providing surveying services are open for them.

Architecture

Attendance: full-time (5 years)

Degree: bachelor

When the geological aspects of the certain field are known and its relief is thoroughly examined, architects come in. They develop the design of the buildings in compliance with construction norms and codes, sanitary regulations and climatic characteristics. Architects engineer optimal layout of utilities, develop the plan of internal spaces and external view of the building.

To cope with these important tasks engineers should have practical knowledge of architectural reconstruction and design, operate ArhiCAD, AutoCAD, 3dMax, Revit, Photoshop, CorelDRAW etc. The architecture training program in ASUACE provides this knowledge. Development of creative thinking is a special focus of the training. Graduating from the university the bachelors can argument their author design concepts, provide expressive images of the objects, make sketches and architectural models of landscape, interiors design, graphical design, civil construction and industrial engineering.

The graduates are called for in design bureaus, architectural engineering, design and construction companies. They can apply for positions in regional and local administrations or find job in adjacent creative spheres (design, advertising etc.), teach in secondary schools and higher educational establishments.

Land management and cadaster (program «Land cadaster»)

Attendance: full-time (4 years), part-time (5 years)

Degree: bachelor

When the detailed design is approved, it is necessary to apply to the local authorities for the permit for construction. This is required to assign an address to a new built, develop technical plan and register the building in the state property cadaster. This process becomes much easier if supported by qualified lawyers and cadaster engineers.

Land specialists and cadaster engineers must know all peculiarities of the land and cadaster legislation, civil law relations, administrative codes and norms.

The graduates of the Land management and cadaster program can solve issues of the land resources and property, arrange their proper use, perform cadaster and land management procedures. They can apply advanced technologies in design, cadaster and other activities related to land management and cadaster, data collection, interpreting and accounting practices. The bachelors in land management and cadaster may also apply for qualification of cadaster engineer.

The bachelors in this field can apply for positions of land surveyor, cadaster engineer, inspector, land specialist in engineering, surveying or manufacturing companies. They may find employment in accounting, cadaster inspection and assets registration; realtor business, evaluation and consultancy in the land management sphere.

Fire safety

Attendance: full-time (5 years), part-time (6 years)

Qualification: fire safety specialist

General site layout should be approved by the fire safety authority. Incompliance with the fire safety requirements may results not only in extra costs for reconstruction of the building but also in losses of material property and death.

Life safety is the priority in work of fire safety specialist. Using advanced technical equipment, preventive measures and fire-fighting means; minimizing negative environment impact, improve life safety. Fire safety specialist organizes fire-fighting by different means, performs emergency and life-saving work and other activities in case of emergency.

The graduates of this program can work in fire patrol, emergency and life-saving departments, Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, HSE departments as FF officers in companies and entities of any kind, and also as design engineers in design and research institutes, companies and organizations.

Construction

Attendance: full-time (4 years), part-time (5 years)

Degree: bachelor

When the approved design and all permitting documents are available with the customer, a contract is signed between the customer and construction contractor. The construction starts. The initial stage includes trenching and pits excavation, cable and pipelines laying, foundations. The main construction phase includes building carcassing, building walls, flooring etc. Then go façade finishing works, internal outfitting. The specialists of different occupations work together on all stages of construction, any of these qualifications can be obtained in ASUACE.

Program «Industrial and civil building»

The bachelors in this field receive good basic training of design, engineering and civil construction, and also geodetic survey of construction site, engineering of heating systems and water supply lines, calculation of construction estimate and architectural engineering. Structural solutions developed by industrial and civil construction engineers assure strength, stability and reliability of new-built, guarantee long life of constructed objects. Any building is a multi-ton structure tending to lay down by gravity forces. The intelligence of engineer is in reliability of the buildings and safety through years.

Students study graphic editors «COMPAS», AutoCAD, Revit, design utilities «LIRA», «Monomach», SCAD, accounting programs «GRAND-estimate». The graduates become universal specialists able to cover wide range of activities in construction industry. 

The graduates of this field can make career in design, planning and surveying companies; construction supervision companies; construction contractors.

The range of employment is not limited to this. Bachelors can work at construction sites as foremen, site managers, design engineers, lead or senior specialists and QC, construction expert in supervising organizations.

Program «Heat supply and ventilation»

Installation of heating, gas supply and ventilation systems starts with façade dressing and finishing work. The impression of comfortable and warm home depends on professionalism of these specialists.

The graduates of this program master engineering of heating systems on the basis of up-to-date computer technologies; know how to control air emissions from factories, electrical stations and other sources. Great attention in the study is paid to nontraditional energy sources (geothermal heat, solar energy and wind energy). Energy saving solutions and energy consumption efficiency is also within their competence.

The bachelors in this field can apply for positions of state officials, design engineers, heat engineers, power engineers, foreman, site supervisor. They build their carrier in the state authorities (ministries, administrations, agencies), local authorities (municipality, prefecture, board), and design organizations, managing heat generation and gas supply, companies providing special equipment for HVAC systems.

Program «Water supply and wastewater collection»

Installation of in-house utilities, including water lines and sewage lines, is done on the internal works stage. This work could be called essential for life supporting: water is always needed for people’s work and life. The graduates master water and sewage treatment technologies, installation of internal and external pipelines. They can develop technical documentation and design water supply and disposal systems for private houses and villages, as also for production facilities. Great responsibility devolves on them for ecological safety and environmental reporting during construction and housing and municipal activities.

The graduates of this qualification are called for in design and construction companies, HSE departments, Ministry of construction and housing and utility of the RF. As a rule they take such positions as construction engineer, expert engineer, laboratory manager, cost control, designer, foreman, site supervisor.

Program «Inspection and property management»

Each stage of investment construction projects is supported by assets engineers, who are truly universal specialists, as they manage all stages of the life cycle of buildings and facilities. They perform analysis and economic evaluation of projects, technical expertise and site examination for new building, manage administrative issues of construction. They assure effective operation of assets, plan routine maintenance and capital repairs to keep the assets in good state and provide reliable cost effective operation.

The graduates of this field perform expertise of residential and commercial assets: technical, economic, legal, managerial and environmental expertise. They can operate such software as MIDAS GTS NX, MS Project Prof, «1С: Enterprise», «GRAND-Estimate» etc.; can work in graphic editors Revit, «COMPASS», AutoCAD.

The graduates can apply for such positions as expert engineer, estimator, experts group head  in companies specializing in assets expertise and evaluation. They are always called for in housing and communal services in positions of foreman, engineer, site manager, administrator; in operation organizations (civil construction services, capital construction services); in construction companies as foreman, site engineer, site supervisor, director, general director).

Program «Auto roads»

As per statistics of 100 countries the level of economic wealth is directly related to the state of auto roads network. According to this Russia, unfortunately, is a less developed country. This is why the specialists of this qualification is so demanded.

Graduating from the university bachelor can choose components and structure of road pavement, compose the lists of construction materials, track-laying equipment and machinery. Specialist can perform testing of construction materials and inspect their compliance to the requirements of norms and codes, apply highway construction technologies, develop construction documentation for auto roads and supporting structures.

The field of work for the specialists of this qualification is road building and maintenance, engineering, manufacturing and processing of non-metallic raw materials, architectural pottery production, mineral non stripping agents, dry mixtures, cement, thermal-sound-hydra insulation, roofing and finish materials, woodworking materials production. Also they can work in research and development centers, institutes, laboratories of the roads construction industry.

Architectural space design

Attendance: full-time (5 years)

Degree: bachelor

Not to take anything away from practical functionality of the object of construction, its comfort and cost effectiveness, today this is obviously not enough to satisfy the customer. The user also sets high requirements to aesthetical view. The final stage of construction is interior finishing and design, landscape design, which shouldn’t be underestimated.

Architectural space engineering for life-support optimization and increase of esthetic level of space is a genuine art, which can be mastered in the program Architectural space design.

The graduates with bachelor degree can design not only small architectural forms, but also large objects. The designers perform engineering, research and other work connected with complex build-up of objective spatial (architectural design) ensembles, manage these works. They operate computer programs ArchiCAD, Lumion, AutoCAD, Revit, 3dMax, Artlantis, Photoshop.

Bachelors – designers of architectural space can take positions of lead specialists, developing projects such as internal and external architectural space, visual communications, landscape design, hardscaping, interiors, corporate identity, graphic design. They can also teach architectural design in secondary vocational education establishments, aimed at training specialists in the sphere of engineering of objective spatial environment objects and systems.

Reconstruction and restoration of architectural heritage

Attendance: full-time (5 years)

Degree: bachelor

Understanding construction industry as construction and refinement of structures is to narrow it down. Preserving cultural heritage of historical and architectural value is one of the important tasks of the restoration specialists. At this point one cannot do without restoration works – complex of activities performed to prevent decay and keep cultural artifact in good state for a long time. Restoration and reconstruction is applied both to inner and outer spaces of buildings, large civil objects such as parks, gardens, sometimes whole villages and towns. Engineering of new objects in historical heritage environment is also possible.

The qualification of restorer implies exploring objects of historical development to find their place in cultural and historical heritage, using conservation methods and approaches. The graduates in this field design reconstruction of the objects of historical heritage with account for the present requirements of the social environment. This is done in computer programs such as ArchiCAD, Lumion, AutoCAD, Revit, 3dMax, Artlantis, Photoshop.

The graduates with qualification in Reconstruction and restoration of the cultural heritage can take positions of lead specialists in architecture, civil construction, reconstruction and restoration. They can also work in state authorities and public organizations related to historical and cultural heritage conservation, teach in secondary vocational education establishments and train professional staff in the field of reconstruction and restoration of the architectural heritage and popularization of its values. 

Thermal engineering and thermal technology (program «Facility power supply»)

Attendance: full-time (4 years), part-time (5 years)

Degree: bachelor

There is no activity that could be done without energy consumption; this is why skillful power engineers are so much in demand in all spheres of up-to-date industry and housing and utility sector. Complex power supply systems require deep knowledge of physics and math, which are fundamental for any engineering profession.  The students of this program study such scientific disciplines as theoretical mechanics and information technologies. They learn to read drawings and diagrams, engineer machines and mechanisms, draw assemble drawings and detail design with computer graphics.

The graduates are firmly grounded in knowledge of heat power engineering and calculation methods for thermal stations and boiler plants, principles of steam generation units and water heating boilers, heat engines of different types (steam and gas turbines, combustion engine), pumps, compressors, fans.

Also this program includes environmental safety requirements for production facilities, installation, commissioning works, testing and performance trials, handover and start-up in operation of the power, heat supply and thermal process equipment.

The graduates of the program can find jobs in production industry, related to heat power generation, distribution, transformation, consumption; management of energy flows, engineering and fabrication of subsystems and systems, supporting processes: in local power generation companies, engineering companies and other entities and holdings. Also they can build carrier in scientific and research heat power engineering institutes.

Economics (programs «Organizations and enterprises economics», «Book-keeping, analysis and audit»)

To be successful in any business it is necessary to understand market conditions and enterprise economics, mechanisms and principles of effective business operation. Any enterprise having economic affairs requires a professional accountant.

The graduate with this qualification can justify managerial decisions with account of production means and technology and rational resources use, knows economics theory and economic analysis methods, has a vision of an enterprise or industry development. This qualification offers one to become a multiskilled economist, who is able to perform complex financial and economic analysis of the enterprise, run estimates in GRAND-Estimate application and on the basis of its results assess economic efficiency of any managerial decision.

Financial accounting, cash flow control, fiscal assessment, salary accounting, store accounting, payments settlement with suppliers and customers, preparation of reporting documents is within the competence of the graduated economist.

The highlight of this training program in the Astrakhan State University f Civil Engineering is intensive foreign language training and interpersonal communications competence..

The graduates are called for in economical, financial, marketing, production-economical and analytical services of the companies in different spheres of business. They can also build career in financial, crediting and insurance companies, state services and municipal offices. They can also teach in elementary and secondary vocational institutions and also in high and further vocational establishments.

Occupational training (industry-oriented)

It is generally known that not only universities prepare professional builders, but also secondary vocational schools. Teaching staff of such schools should meet general academic standards and specific requirements. The task of occupational training tutor is to organize occupational training in groups of job families in construction industry. This specialist combines practical training with actual work, including operation of the up-to-date construction technologies, computer-aided educational means and simulation complexes.

The tutor of occupational training elaborates methodologic basis not only for school but also for network of enterprises and organizations, he creates tutorial projects on the basis of teaching methods and innovative approaches in education. Bachelors in this field can professionally elaborate methodologic documentation (curriculum and subject programs, guidelines and manuals etc.), participate in administration work in schools and educational organizations. He is also competent to conduct awareness raising work, create pedagogical projects, individual training methods aimed at forming professional competence of a worker (specialist) in construction industry.
